Erie Insurance has filed to lower its private passenger auto insurance premiums in Pennsylvania beginning January 1, 1999 by a statewide average of 7.3 percent. This rate filing is pending approval by the Pennsylvania Insurance Department. While actual reductions will vary by region and coverages selected, the overall statewide effect of the decrease will be $53.2 million.
Current Erie Insurance policyholders will realize the reduction as their policies renew on or after January 1, 1999. In addition to an overall rate reduction, approximately one-half of the decrease will be attributed to a new discount extended to Erie Insurance's safest drivers. Long-term policyholders who have been accident free for at least five years will be eligible for the discount.
"This reduction is in The Erie's spirit of providing the best possible insurance at the lowest possible price," said Stephen A. Milne, President and Chief Executive Officer of Erie Insurance Group. "Our favorable experience has allowed us to pass along these savings to our policyholders. We especially want to offer an incentive to our policyholders to drive as carefully as possible, and our new discount will do just that. We pride ourselves in being one of the lowest cost insurers in the territories in which we operate. This will ensure that we remain the competition for other insurers."

Whether your excitement is cruising your ATV or dirt bike on open trails, or taking a leisurely trip on your moped or scooter, be sure you have the correct coverage and policy that helps keep you and your recreation vehicle (RV) safe.
Some homeowner's policies will only extend you liability while you are using the unit on your primary premises. Once you take the RV off your premises, liability coverage is now void. Most policyholders believe they do not need additional coverage that they are covered under their home and/or auto policies. Check with your agent!
There is a remedy to this situation!! You can purchase coverage through an agency that offers coverage with companies that specifically handle this type of exposure. Liability and package policies are available and are generally inexpensive depending on the type of RV you have. Your policy can cover you for damages done to your vehicle, injury to your passengers, as well as property damage to others.
Contact your Independent Agent and be sure to look into this important coverage.
